中国上海の南汇区に新たに海洋博物館がオープンしたそうです。館内からは杭州湾を見渡すことが出来、博物館は中国ジャンク船の帆の形をしているということです。さまざまな中国の船のモデルやレプリカなどが展示され、遺物は特に航海技術に関するものを多く展示してあるようです。鄭和大航海に使われた船のレプリカもあり、マストの高さだけで２６．６ｍもあります。昔の海図やルートの説明なども多くあるようです。４Dモニター（？？）などもあり中国の海洋史を子供でも学べるよう様々なイベントや体験、展示方法にも工夫がなされているそうです。
スリランカで海事考古学博物館がこのたび新しくオープンしたそうです。以前は同敷地に博物館があったそうですが、2004年の大津波の際に倒壊したそうです。このたび、新しく海事考古学博物館としてリニューアルされたそうです。この博物館ではスリランカ周辺海域から発掘された遺物や、古代の海図、船舶などいろいろな海に関わる遺物が展示されてています。スリランカの総理大臣Rathnasiri Wichramanayaka（あえてカタカナ表示しません…）氏などが開館記念式典に参加したようです。
今後も地域の海事・海洋考古学の発展、これからの世代の育成に影響を与えていける博物館であってほしものですね。

| Mar 04, Galle: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today declared open the country’s first Maritime Archaeology Museum and the Visitor Information Center at the Old Dutch Warehouse in Galle Fort today.
The Museum newly established by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage in a 40,000 square feet faculty was built under a special grant of Rs.177 million from the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The museum will display exhibits of marine artifacts discovered in explorations made in the ocean floor around Sri Lanka.
Artifacts relating to Maritime Archaeology, maps, naval craft and a host of articles including artillery guns, ropes, earthenware, beer mugs, smoking pipes, barrels, shoes used by the sailors, and items recovered from the wreckages of ships sunk in the sea off the Southern coast nearly 800 years ago.
The Museum previously existed before in Galle was completely destroyed by the Tsunami Disaster on 26th December 2004 and the present Museum is being established after renovating a massive old building constructed during the Dutch Era and situated within the historic rampart of Galle, the Ministry announced.
Netherlands Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ms. Leoni Cuelenaere, Commander of Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe, Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka, Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Minister Piyasiri Wijenayaka also participated in the event. |
